Explore is a quarterly magazine designed for Elkhart Public Library that highlights stories, library programs, free resources, and events throughout the Elkhart community. Distributed in both English and Spanish, the publication was created to feel welcoming, informative, and accessible while showcasing the library as a community-centered space for learning, creativity, and connection. Each issue is mailed to residential households throughout the library’s service area, distributed to local Elkhart schools, and made available for pickup at all library locations.
For each issue, I design the full editorial layout system, create advertisements and promotional graphics, select and art direct photography from our in-house photographer, and occasionally develop custom illustrations and supporting graphics. I also collaborate closely with Spanish translators to produce bilingual editions that remain visually cohesive and accessible across both languages. The magazine includes feature stories, historical articles, community spotlights, event calendars, infographics, and promotional campaigns, requiring flexible yet cohesive visual storytelling across every spread. Through typography, layout design, branding, print production, and information hierarchy, I help transform a large amount of content into an engaging publication that reflects the diverse voices and experiences of the Elkhart community.
