The Elkhart Public Library’s Summer Reading Challenge is one of the library’s largest annual community programs, encouraging both children and adults to read throughout the summer while engaging with local businesses and community spaces. Participants tracked 60 days of reading for opportunities to earn coupon rewards from partnered businesses, submit prize entries for multiple giveaway prizes, and complete book reviews for a chance to win the grand prize, a family trip to the Dinosaur Museum and Chocolate Factory including a hotel stay. In 2026, the program expanded to include adult participation for the first time, introducing additional prize opportunities and helping create a more community-wide reading experience across all age groups.

For this campaign, I developed a large-scale visual system that carried across both print and digital platforms. My work included designing collectible Beanstack achievement badges, promotional posters and flyers, coupon reward sheets, window clings, yard signs, motion graphic GIFs, and digital advertisements. I also created the illustrated reading gameboards and entry-rule materials that were distributed through the library’s Explore and Explora community magazines. Beyond traditional print design, I designed large-format environmental graphics including 3D entrance displays, door wraps, and interactive prize-entry deposit stations to help transform library spaces into immersive, family-friendly experiences during the challenge. The project required balancing accessibility, playful visual storytelling, and consistent branding across a wide variety of formats and audiences.
