After researching drowning statistics in the United States, I learned that children between the ages of one and four are the most at-risk age group for unintentional drowning deaths. Wanting to bring greater awareness to this issue, I developed Submerge, a conceptual user-centered design campaign focused on water safety education and prevention.

Submerge is a conceptual water bottle brand featuring interactive packaging that educates consumers through drowning statistics, age-group data, and preventative safety information directly integrated into the bottle design. The project combines social awareness with product packaging to encourage engagement and conversation around water safety.

As part of the campaign concept, a percentage of each bottle sale would support swim education programs for both children and adults. To further promote the brand and its mission, the project also included promotional posters and editorial-style magazine layouts designed to expand audience awareness and reinforce the campaign message.

Photography Process
For the campaign visuals, I experimented with an underwater-inspired photography technique using acrylic paint and a fish tank. By pouring mixed paint into water and photographing the movement and interaction of the colors, I was able to create fluid, atmospheric imagery that reflected the themes of water and submersion central to the campaign.

The process required repeatedly cleaning and refilling the tank to capture different effects, but the resulting imagery became a key visual component of the project. One of the photographs created during this process was ultimately used as the foundation for the package design system.
